The main advantages of a platform-mounted transformer (also known as a rack-mounted installation) include:

1.Small Footprint

Pan-mounted installation places the transformer directly on a tower or support, eliminating the need for significant floor space and making it suitable for land-constrained environments.

2.Material Savings

Compared to floor-mounted installations, a pan-mounted installation uses less structural material and is therefore less expensive.

3.High Safety

Live parts are elevated above the ground, reducing the risk of electric shock. Fencing and other protective measures are also required for further safety.

Pre-operation Inspection of Distribution Transformers:
 
1. Check the transformer's certificate; if the certificate is more than two months old, retest the insulation resistance.
2. Check the oil level and breather holes for leaks or seepage, and ensure adequate ventilation.
3. Check the high and low voltage insulation bushings and related leads for integrity and for loose screws.
4. Check the voltage regulator's position and the high and low voltage fuses for the correct position.
5. Ensure lightning protection measures are complete and the ground resistance measurement is satisfactory.
6. Check that there are no abnormalities in the cables or busbars.
