A three-phase oil-immersed transformer, also known simply as an oil-immersed transformer, is a transformer device that uses oil cooling to reduce the temperature of the transformer. Unlike dry-type transformers, the main body of an oil-immersed transformer is installed in a welded steel oil tank filled with insulating oil. When an oil-immersed transformer is in operation, the heat generated by the coil and iron core is transferred to the insulating oil, which then dissipates the heat into the cooling medium. Based on its capacity, it can be classified into an oil-immersed free-cooling transformer and an oil-immersed forced-air cooling transformer.

The three-phase oil-immersed transformer features a fully oil-filled, sealed, corrugated oil tank shell, which adapts to the expansion of the oil through its own elasticity, creating a permanently sealed oil tank. Oil-immersed transformers have been widely used in various power distribution systems.
