Breakthrough in dry-type transformer technology
At a time when environmental protection needs are growing, the problem of traditional dry-type transformer insulation materials being difficult to degrade has become prominent. In February 2025, the Guangxi Power Grid Company of the Southern Power Grid and Hubei University of Technology successfully developed the world's first 35kV degradable epoxy resin cast dry-type transformer, bringing new breakthroughs to the industry.

The transformer has significant technological innovations. An ester exchange catalyst is added to the traditional electrical anhydride-cured epoxy resin to develop an efficient degradation technology for degradable epoxy resin based on amine solution. By using new degradable epoxy resin insulation materials and improved casting processes, the epoxy resin of the dry-type transformer can be completely degraded within 24 hours, and the degradation products can be resynthesized into epoxy resin.

This achievement has broad application prospects. It can not only greatly reduce the pollution of abandoned transformers to the environment, but also contribute to the development of green electricity, and is expected to promote the entire dry-type transformer industry to move towards a more environmentally friendly direction.
